Founded in 2016 by ISEG students, LIS – Lisbon Investment Society is currently the largest finance club in Portugal, boasting over 130 members across departments such as equity research, portfolio management, human resources, marketing & client relations, macroeconomics, and quantitative finance. Its goal is to foster student interest in finance and bridge the gap between students and leading institutions in the sector.
Throughout the year, members participate in training sessions, competitions, and research projects, applying classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios. A key highlight is the production of equity research for external institutional clients, offering an opportunity to gain practical work experience. LIS also organizes galas, cocktail events, and team-building activities, strengthening relationships among members and with partner institutions.

John Warren was a member of LIS from 2023 to 2026, having served as Head of Macro, Equity Research Team Leader, and Equity Research Analyst. He currently works at XP's Trading Desk. At LIS John was awarded 1ˢᵗ place at both BNP Paribas' 5² Challenge and LIS' Stock Pitch Competition. John is currently a CFA Level 1 candidate, following a scholarship awarded by LIS in 2025-2026.
LIS was, above all, a great learning ground and a platform for my personal and professional growth, not just because of the projects, but primarily due to the environment and the opportunity to interact with so many people who shared similar goals and were committed to a common purpose. It is undoubtedly a place that offers opportunities for technical preparation and opens countless doors for the future.
